Spring has arrived in Kinston, North Carolina and the warm weather is coming with it. As the days begin to gradually heat up, make plans to for you and your family to visit the Lions Water Adventure Park.
Built in conjunction with the Woodman Community Center, the park opened in 2013 and was named in honor of Lions Industries for the Blind of Kinston. Aside from being a major donor, Lion’s Industries also ensured the park implemented features to assist blind and visually impaired visitors.
Lions Water Adventure Park is located at 2602 W. Vernon Ave in Kinston. Admission is free to members of the Kinston Community Center. For nonmember, admission is $10.95 per person on weekdays and $11.95 per person on weekends.
Hours are Monday – Saturday from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Sundays from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The park doesn’t officially open to the public until Memorial Day Weekend. Attractions
Lions Water Adventure features attractions and activities for every age. Whether you want to splash, slide, or float, you’re guaranteed to have a roaring good time!
Water Slides
The park features three water slides open to visitors who are at least 48 inches tall:
- The Zebra Slide – Colored to match its namesake, this slide sends you flying through tight twists and turns on an inner tube.
- The Lion Slide – For those who enjoy big drops and plunges, this is the slide for you. Descend down into the lion’s mouth and into a large splash pool.
- The Low-Splash Slide – This slide features a self-contained landing space that’s perfect for smaller children or those with visual or hearing disabilities.
To ensure maximum fun and to avoid serious injury, please be sure to familiarize yourself with the slide rules beforehand.
Kiddie Lagoon
The Kiddie Lagoon is a 5,000 square foot, shallow water play area designed for our little lion cubs. The area features slides, fountains, water dump buckets, and sprayers – making tons of fun for splashing!
Lazy River
Not everything a Lion’s Water Adventure Park seeks to thrill. If you’re looking to lean back, relax, and soak up some sun, then take a float along the Lazy River. This 550-foot moving stream stretches longer than a football field and features dump buckets and sprayers to help you stay cool.
Therapeutic & Lap Pool
Patrons looking to get in a cardio workout during their visit can make use of the 8-lane lap pool. Those 15 and under are required to take a swim test beforehand, however. There is also a wellness pool that’s kept at a soothing 90-degrees year round. This pool also features wheelchair access.
