The staff and volunteers at the C.S.S. Neuse Civil War Interpretive Center, two blocks off the banks of the Neuse River in downtown Kinston, host a variety of educational events throughout the year. You’ve been there before and enjoyed exploring the exhibits and learning so much about our area’s history. But this upcoming event is a home run. On Saturday, April 6, visitors can attend the “Baseball and the American Civil War” program. The hourlong presentation will start at 3 p.m. You’ll get to experience an exploration of the ways the game was played – and changed – as battles raged between the North and South.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame
The program costs only the price of regular museum admission, but the center is also offering a fun incentive: Visitors can attend for free with a Saturday ticket to a Down East Wood Ducks game. The DEWDs meet the Carolina Mudcats on the diamond April 6 this year, and as part of an Opening Weekend promotion, the first 1,000 fans can participate in a jersey T-shirt giveaway. It’s also Pepsi Saturday, so bring a Pepsi product can or bottle to the box office to save $3 off admission! Tickets are available to buy now. To cheer on Kinston’s own baseball team, the Wood Ducks, check out the team’s 2019 schedule here, and reserve your seats in the stands online at this link.
